} A children’s book co-authored with Houston Hughes and illustrated by Brian Rea presenting numbers as characters on a rhyming adventure. It grew out of a frustration that counting books could be misleading (with each number counting different objects) or tried to add fun elements to make the math seem fun (the math is fun!). In this book all the creativity and adventure come from the math itself as numbers split, combine and dance round each other. It asks what new mathematics can be explored as we count each number.
